Although all of God's people are to serve diligently in the kingdom; some of our Christian brothers have been given special tasks to perform that assist in the smooth functioning of the body. A deacon's work may involve building maintenance, scheduling of public worship participants, benevolence programs, etc. They are a very valuable asset to the body, and, by performing their task well, the eldership can focus on the spiritual matters of the body Acts 6:2-3).
